Heating Requirements in This Industry
In boiler and energy systems, heaters run continuously at high power. Three points therefore stand out in design: low watt density against limescale, multi-layer protection against dry running, and ease of servicing. Because flanged units can be removed in one piece, they noticeably shorten maintenance time.
Typical Heating Applications
- Electric heating in industrial hot water and steam boilers
- Oil heating in thermal oil (hot oil) systems
- Maintaining temperature in storage tanks
- Frost protection for outdoor lines and fittings
Which Heater, and Why?
- Flanged and Heat Exchanger Heaters — The multi-element immersion bank is removed in one piece, shortening maintenance time at high power ratings.
- Boiler and Tank Heaters — Used with screw plug or socket mounting to heat water in boilers and storage tanks.
- Tubular Heater — Bent to your technical drawing to fit inside boilers and heat exchangers with special geometries.
- Explosion-Proof (Ex) Heaters — Used with an ATEX-compliant design in plants where flammable fluids or explosive atmospheres are present.
- Self-Regulating Heating Cable — Provides frost protection on lines and valves by adjusting its own output.
- Thermostats and Temperature Controllers — Control and safety thermostats together with PID control are the foundation of boiler safety.

Key Considerations
In boiler applications, the watt density is determined by the fluid being heated: limescale in water, and carbonisation and degradation in oil, are the limiting factors. The sheath material is chosen according to water chemistry and temperature. The flange size and pressure rating must be compatible with the existing boiler connection. On the control side, a manual-reset safety thermostat and level protection should be used in addition to the control thermostat, and staged switch-on should be planned at high power ratings.
- In plants using hard water, a low watt density design delays limescale-related failures.
- A control thermostat and a manual-reset safety thermostat should be used together.
- For oil heating, the 3 W/cm² limit should not be exceeded.
- At high power, staged switch-on reduces the inrush load on the mains.
Custom Manufacturing and Quotation
If you are replacing the heater in an existing boiler, the flange size, element length, power, voltage and wiring diagram are sufficient for a quotation; the old assembly can also be used as a sample. For new designs, the power is calculated from the tank volume, the fluid and the target temperature. The dimension list and technical specifications are submitted for your written approval, and production starts after this approval.
