General Information
A hot air gun ceramic heater consists of resistance wire wound openly on a perforated ceramic body. Because the air passes directly over the wire, there is no metal sheath or filling in between; heat transfer is almost instantaneous. This construction provides outlet temperatures up to 750 °C and a response time of under 30 seconds.
The price of the open-coil construction is absolute dependence on air flow. When the air stops, the wire reaches its melting temperature within seconds. For this reason the product must always be used with a flow switch or fan interlock, and on shutdown the fan must stop after the heater.
The heater is used in compact devices such as hot air guns, plastic welding machines, shrink tunnels and label shrinking units. The body diameter and length are made to suit the device housing; the connection leads are protected by ceramic insulators and terminated with high-temperature cable.
Applications
- Hot air guns
- Plastic welding machines
- Shrink tunnels
- Label shrinking
- Local drying

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Send us the burnt-out element, or share a photo with its diameter, length, power and voltage, and we will produce it to the same dimensions.
Cooling of the open-coil wire depends entirely on air flow; there is no metal sheath or MgO filling in between to hold the heat temporarily. The use of a flow switch is mandatory with this product.
