General Information

A manifold heater is a flexible tubular heater designed for heating hot runner manifold blocks. It is placed in a channel milled into the block and secured with an aluminium strip or by peening. Thanks to its flexible structure it can be bent in the field at the turning points of the channel.

Standard diameters are 6.5 mm and 8.5 mm. The channel width should be 0.1–0.2 mm larger than the heater diameter, and its depth should allow the heater to be fully embedded in the channel. Since every air gap between the channel surface and the heater reduces heat conduction, it is important that the retaining strip makes full contact.

The ends are produced as cold zones; no heating takes place on the section that exits the block. This prevents the cable exit from overheating. The cold end length and exit direction must be specified when ordering — depending on block geometry, axial or 90° angled exits can be produced.

Applications

  • Hot runner manifolds
  • Mould block channels
  • Distribution plates
  • Custom heating blocks
