General Information
A temperature controller compares the temperature it reads from a thermocouple or PT100 sensor with the set value and switches the heater on or off accordingly. A correctly selected device keeps the process stable at the target temperature, protects product quality and prevents unnecessary energy consumption.
Panel-mounted digital devices are fitted to the front of machines and control cabinets. On/off control is sufficient for simple applications, while PID controllers are preferred for processes that require precise temperatures; PID reduces power progressively as the set value is approached and so prevents the temperature from overshooting. Analogue devices suit applications looking for a simple, economical solution.
In hot runner moulds, every nozzle and manifold zone must be controlled separately. Portable multi-zone control boxes are built to the number of zones and connected to the mould with plug-in cables, so the control system can easily be moved when the mould is changed.
To select a device, simply tell us the sensor type (J, K or PT100), the number of zones, the heater power and the supply voltage. We will work out together with you the device that is compatible with your existing heaters and sensors.

Frequently Asked Questions
The input type of the device must match the connected sensor. If a type K thermocouple is connected to a device set to type J, the temperature is read incorrectly. On most digital devices the input type can be selected from the menu; if it cannot, the sensor must be chosen to match.
One control zone is required for each nozzle and manifold zone. If you tell us the number of heaters and thermocouples in the mould, we will determine the right number of zones together with you.
