General Information
A heating system is only as good as its measurement. The products in this family consist of sensors that measure temperature and controllers that switch the heater on according to the measured value. Sourcing them together with the heater from the same supplier eliminates problems often seen in the field, such as a mismatch between the sensor type and the controller input.
Selection Criteria
The measuring range and environment determine the sensor type: type J is economical up to 750 °C, type K is general purpose up to 1100 °C, and PT100 gives the most precise measurement below 400 °C. On the control side, a thermostat is used for simple on/off applications, while processes that require precise temperature holding use a PID controller and a solid state relay.
