General Information
Boiler and tank heaters are immersion heaters screwed directly into a threaded socket welded to the vessel wall. Compared with flanged assemblies, they are used for lower power ratings and applications requiring more economical installation: hot water cylinders, central heating boilers, storage tanks and small process vessels are typical uses.
The product is usually supplied with an adjustable thermostat and a safety thermostat. The control thermostat maintains the target temperature, while the safety thermostat cuts the circuit with manual reset in the event of overheating. This dual protection is the most effective safeguard against dry firing.
The sheath material is selected according to water quality. AISI 304 is sufficient for mains water; for applications with high chloride content or seawater, AISI 316 can be preferred, and for central heating circuits a copper sheath with higher thermal conductivity. A low watt density design is recommended to delay scale build-up.

- Hot water cylinders
- Central heating boilers
- Storage tanks
- Process vessels

Frequently Asked Questions
On request it is built with an adjustable thermostat and a safety thermostat. If you will use an external PID controller, a version without a thermostat can also be produced; the configuration is agreed at the quotation stage.
The safety thermostat is the first line of defence. In tanks that are frequently emptied, an interlock with a level switch is also recommended; this largely prevents failures caused by dry running.
